    On 12 November, 2021, the Board of the Liepaja SEZ approved the revised port dues, developed in accordance with the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council, establishing a common system for the provision of port services under uniform and transparent conditions. The revised Liepaja Port dues will take effect from January 1, 2022.

    When calculating the Liepaja Port dues, the Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority used the calculation of work costs and the principles of fully distributed cost methods. The Liepaja SEZ Authority presented the Liepaja Port Tenants' Association with the progress of the port dues development process and consulted on the procedure for their implementation. The Liepaja Port dues will increase by 7%, on average.

    In the ten months of 2021, the Port of Liepaja stevedores handled 5,793,779.41 tons of various cargoes, which is 9.2% more than in the period from January to October 2020. Entrepreneurs of the Port of Liepaja work with a stable flow of cargo, looking for new opportunities and placing great emphasis on the local cargo - grain, timber, cement, etc.

    In the ten months of this year, the largest cargo group in the port of Liepaja consists of bulk cargo - 66% or 3,842.9 thousand. tons. Cereals and cereal products account for the largest share in the traditionally active cereal season - 58.3% of bulk cargo or 39% of all cargo. Cement, wood chips, wood pellets, etc. are also stable in the bulk cargo segment.

    The general cargo group continues to be dominated by RO-RO cargo with an increasing turnover exceeding one million tons in ten months and accounting for 67.5% increase compared to the ten months of 2020.
