2. Liepāja Museum Expo "Liepāja Under the Occupation Regimes"

The museum expo " Liepāja Under the Occupation Regimes" was opened on 21 January 2001. It is located in the house that was the headquarters of the Liepāja branch of the Popular Front of Latvia during the Awakening period.

The main permanent exhibition reflects the influence of the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and the USSR-Latvia Mutual Assistance Treaty on the socio-political, economic and cultural life of the Liepāja region. It tells about the repatriation of the Baltic Germans, the events of 1940/1941 - the beginning of the Soviet occupation regime, Liepāja during the Second World War, the repeated Soviet occupation, the deportations of 1941 and 1949, the Gulag, and the Third Awakening in 1991.

The museum regularly hosts thematic exhibitions from its collection and artworks, as well as lectures and meetings with historians and eyewitnesses of recent Latvian history.
