This section descries the largest project completed in the city.
1.Reconstruction of the Liepāja Municipality building at Peldu Street 5
Reconstruction of the facades, internal and external communications, first three floors, a new lift, territory landscaping, construction of parking lots. The Municipality’s Real Property Department, the Construction Board, the Education Board and other municipal institutions are now the residents of this address.
2. Environmental and nature education centre "Dabas māja"
A place to explore the nature of the Liepāja Lake and the Baltic Sea, to study the preservation of fishing culture heritage.
3. Reconstruction of a tram line and a bridge
The necessary infrastructure for new low-floor trams has been already put in place, with the aim of promoting the use of environmentally friendly public transport. As part of the project the Tram Bridge was also made widened to facilitate pedestrian and cycling traffic.
4. Construction of a nature trail on the Zirgu Island
A well-maintained and landscaped place for outdoor recreation. A half-kilometre long walking trail, wooden footbridges and two viewing platforms in the lake. The trail is complemented by planted vegetation, outdoor gym equipment and well-equipped picnic areas.
5. Construction of Liepaja track and field manege completed
Liepaja Olympic centre track and field manege project was developed in accordance with the standards of the International Track and field federation standards. LOC manege has a 200 meters long runway with 4 tracks, 6x60 sprint track, sectors with equipment for vaulting, long jump, triple jump, pole jump and shot put. Manege is also suitable for team sports: floorball, basketball, futsal and volleyball; and it is equipped with rock-climbing wall, training machines and parallel bar sector.
6. Karosta industrial park
Karosta industrial park area consists of 28 separate plots of land. With support of Liepaja city and European Regional Development Fund the plots of land were equipped with all engineering communications required for building construction.
Several plots of land are already booked by entrepreneurs for manufacturing expansion.
7. Renovation of First Liepaja State Gymnasium
In 2017 the five-year long gymnasium renovation works were completed. The works were performed with an aim to preserve and emphasize historic values, while also improving the modern education environment.
8. Old levee landscaping works near Ship pilot’s tower
In 2017 the landscaping works of Old levee near the Ship pilot’s tower were completed. During landscaping a section of Uliha Street was connected to Liepaja promenade by a convenient pedestrian and vehicle road, while also constructing benches, bike stands and car parking lots. The project was implemented with an aim to improve Liepaja port infrastructure for fishermen.
