Blue flag is the most recognised eco-certificate in the world and it is raised at official swimming areas and yacht marina of Liepaja, which means that it is safe to rest here, water is clean, and the environment is suitable for human recreation.

The Blue flag confirms that the location corresponds to 33 strict criteria for water quality, environment quality, safety, service provision, environmental education events and access to information.
The implementation of the Blue Flag criteria is monitored by the Environmental Department of Liepāja City Municipality Administration. The Liepāja Special Economic Zone Authority is responsible for the operation and development of the Liepāja Marina.
During the swimming season, from 15 May to 15 September, the Liepāja City Communal administration Rescue Service will take care of the safety of beachgoers at the swimming areas "Pie stadiona" / “At the Stadium”/ and the “Dienvidrietumi” /South-Western/ beach.
